Flag
In SubSpace, a Flag is a special object which is either used to win a flag game or just to score extra points, depending on the game type. The two primary flag game types are Warzone and Turf (represented by subgame flag modes 1 and 2 and ASSS modules fg_wz and fg_turf, respectively). If a player picks up a flag, the flag timer will be activated. When the flag timer drops to zero, the player will drop the flag. The only way to prevent this is to kill enemies, as each time the player kills, the flag timer will be reset. To configure the behavior of flags, see Flag Settings.
Warzone
Warzone is a flag mode in which the objective for a team is to own all the flags. The server will originally randomly spawn all the flags neutral, and players can pick up the flags. When the flag timer runs out, the flags are dropped, owned by the carrying player's team. When a team owns all flags except for flags carried by a teammate, the victory music will play. When the carrying player drops his/her flags, the team will win the game and each member will receive the jackpot, which a number of points increased throughout the flag game via kills, goals, and other point-gaining activities.
Turf
Turf is a flag mode in which the flags are permanently assigned locations and team can capture enemy flags by going over them. Usually teams will then receive periodic rewards depending on the number of flags owned and the players in game. To configure this in subgame, see Periodic Settings. Zones that use turf flag settings include Trench Wars and Death Star Battle. Turf is also sometimes used to refer to a type of zone (Ex: I made a cool new turf zone!).
